Hotel Vin Grapevine

Oct 25, 17 -- In cooperation with the City of Grapevine, Tulsa-based Coury Hospitality is developing a hotel attached to a planned TexRail commuter rail station at the south end of historic downtown Grapevine. The 121-room, full-service hotel will be flanked by the rail station to the west and a 552-stall city parking garage to the east. The garage will include 1,868 square-feet of retail space on the ground floor. On October 17, the Grapevine City Council approved rezoning and other entitlements for the project.

Coury Hospitality owns and operates four historic hotels in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma that operate under the Ambassador Hotel name. Those hotels are affiliated with Marriott's Autograph Collection, as is The Elliot, a new hotel to be managed by Coury in downtown Minneapolis. Read more...


Hampton Inn | Home2 Suites Convention Center

Oct 19, 17 -- Las Vegas developer Daniel Grimm is planning a 250-room, dual-brand hotel on a vacant, 2.5-acre parcel across from the Las Vegas Convention Center south parking lot. Waivers for the hotel were approved by the Clark County Planning Commission on September 19. The brands will be Hampton Inn and Home2 Suites. Read more...


Lexington 40 Hotel

Oct 11, 17 -- Builder and real estate investor Terence Cheng filed plans last week for a 20-story hotel on a Lexington Avenue parcel near Grand Central Terminal. The 1,610 square-foot site is currently occupied by a three-story commercial/residential building. A partnership managed by Cheng has owned the property for more than a decade. Four Points by Sheraton Round Rock

Oct 3, 17 -- Houston-based Marmont Hotels is planning a Four Points by Sheraton hotel near the intersection of I-35 and the SH 45 toll road. The project is under review for by the City of Round Rock for preliminary site plan approval. Read more...


Comfort Inn and Suites Euless

Sep 28, 17 -- Mukesh and Meena Patel are planning a Comfort Inn near the intersection of Airport Freeway and State Highway 121. A Special Use Permit application was filed with the City of Euless at the end of August. The hotel would be developed on a vacant, two-acre site and would have around 96 guest rooms. Read more...


SpringHill Suites Sacramento/El Dorado Hills

Sep 20, 17 -- Developers Martin Harmon and Vinal Perkins are planning a hotel with approximately 100 guest rooms within a proposed, 17-acre expansion of the existing Montano de El Dorado shopping center. The Sacramento-area project is currently in the environmental review process. The developers have a SpringHill Suites franchise agreement for the hotel. Read more...


Home2 Suites Steeplechase Business Park

Sep 5, 17 -- KM Hotels of Richmond, Va., is planning a Home2 Suites hotel at the Steeplechase 95 International Business Park, located next to the I-495 beltway near Andrews Air Force Base. The hotel is currently under review by Prince George's County for Detailed Site Plan. The case will go before the Prince George's Planning Commission on September 21 with a recommendation for approval. Read more...


Hampton Inn Cincinnati West

Sep 7, 17 -- An affiliate of Kentucky-based builder Michael Salsman is developing a Hampton Inn off I-74 west of Cincinnati. The approximately two-acre site comprises three parcels each currently developed with a vacant single-family residential structure. Site acquisition was completed in February of this year. Hilton Garden Inn | Homewood Suites Broomfield

Aug 25, 17 -- Dakota Legacy Group is planning a dual-brand Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites hotel near the Flatiron Crossing mall north of Denver. Concept plans were submitted to the City of Broomfield earlier this year and city staff anticipates a formal submittal in the coming days. The site is owned by an affiliate Dakota Legacy Group founder Gary Tharaldson. The franchise is held by Kerry W. Boekelheide of KWB Hotel Partners but the plans were submitted by Dakota Legacy Group. I-85 Little Rock Road Hotel I

Aug 16, 17 -- Charlotte-based hotel owner Kunal Dave is planning two hotels on the north side of I-85 near Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Dave purchased the 5.4-acre site in late 2015 and filed a rezoning application in June of this year. The two hotels would have a total of 215 guest rooms. Read more...

Aug 1, 17 -- Meadows Asset Management of Newport Beach is planning a Holiday Inn Express hotel adjacent to I-15 north of Temecula. The hotel will be part of a new 6.5-acre commercial center that will include around 26,600 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Plans for the development were approved by the Murrieta Planning Commission on June 28. Read more...

Jul 26, 17 -- Texas Western Hospitality is planning a Marriott Courtyard hotel near The Domain mixed-use development north of Austin. Plans were submitted on July 20. The approximately three-acre site is currently developed with a single-story warehouse.

Jun 5, 17 -- Local hotel owner/developer Raju Bhagat is planning a Marriott Courtyard hotel fronting Shoreline Drive in downtown Corpus Christi. The intended site is currently developed with an exterior corridor hotel built in the 1960s.

Bhagat and partner Ajit David recently developed a SpringHill Suites in Corpus Christi and currently have Aloft, Residence Inn and Tru hotels under development there. Read more...


Canopy Savannah Historic District

May 25, 17 -- North Point Hospitality Group is planning a Canopy by Hilton on the western edge of the Savannah Historic District. An application for Certificate of Appropriateness was filed on May 17.

Southside CityCentre Hotel

May 18, 17 -- Miami developer Kevin Reilly is planning a multi-tower, mixed-use development on 3.3 acres in downtown Fort Lauderdale south of the Tarpon River. The project would comprise three towers containing around 312,000 square feet of office space, 52,000 square feet of retail, 879 residential units and a 330-room hotel. The hotel and 207,000 square feet of office space would occupy a 36-story tower at the south end of the site. The two remaining towers are each 43 stories. Oak Lawn/Uptown Hotel

Apr 24, 17 -- Dallas-based Alamo Manhattan Properties is planning a 220-room hotel in the Oak Lawn neighborhood. On April 4, the Dallas City Plan Commission granted Planned Development Subdistrict approval for the project.

The intended site comprises three quarters of an acre and is currently developed with a 13-unit condominium complex and a single family home. The single-family property and one of the condo units are owned by Greenway Investment Co., an affiliate of Alamo Manhattan Properties. The developer intends to purchase the remaining condo units from individual owners. Read more...

Apr 13, 17 -- KNM Development Group is planning a 101-room Best Western Vib hotel and an attached, above-grade parking garage near FedEx Forum in downtown Memphis. Apr 7, 17 -- A partnership led by local developer Antonio Gonzalez is planning a 120-room hotel on close to an acre of vacant industrial-zoned land near the Miami International Mall. Mar 24, 17 -- Peachtree Hotel Group is planning a Home2 Suites near the Sugarloaf Mills shopping mall north of Atlanta. A petition to rezone the site is under consideration by Gwinnett County. Four Points by Sheraton Sarasota

Mar 13, 17 -- California-based developer Daniel Singh is planning to convert an exterior corridor Baymont Inn to an interior corridor Four Points by Sheraton. The existing hotel comprises two detached buildings constructed in 1967 and 1976, respectively. The older, two-story building would be expanded to three stories and the newer, three-story western building would be increased to five stories. New construction would total around 10,000 square feet. The number of guest rooms will remain at 99. The project is under review for conditional use and site plan approval. Read more...

West 39th Street Hotel

Jan 19, 17 -- Fortuna Realty Group is planning a 300-room hotel on the site of a five-story commercial building on West 39th Street between 5th and 6th avenues. Fortuna purchased the property in May 2016 and submitted plans for the hotel at the end of December. Amenities will include a guest spa, meeting rooms, ground floor restaurant, second floor terrace bar and a rooftop bar.

Fortuna currently has two other hotels under development near this location: one on West 38th Street and another on 6th Avenue close to West 45th Street. Read more...


TownePlace Suites Innovate Corp Center

Jan 10, 17 -- A partnership led by Cosme Fagundo is planning a TownePlace Suites hotel at Innovate Corporate Center, a new, 14-acre office complex located just south of Sleep Train Arena. Plans for the complex were recommended for approval by the Sacramento Planning Commission on November 17, 2016, and will go before the city council for final approval on January 17.

Fagundo is a locally based investor and owner of McDonald's restaurants. Read more...


SoMa 5th Street Hotel

Jan 5, 17 -- Southern California-based developer Virendra J. Nathu has proposed a 197-room hotel on a quarter of an acre near the intersection of 5th Street and I-80 in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood. San Francisco planning staff completed a preliminary review of the project in early December. Hotel amenities would include a lobby bar, breakfast room, fitness room and small meeting room. The building would include 4,045 square feet of retail space and fourteen parking spaces below grade with access from Hulbert Alley.

The site is currently occupied by a two-story industrial building, a donut shop and a surface parking lot. Nathu purchased the site in June 2016. Read more...

Dec 20, 16 -- An entity led by local businessman Kamyar Marouni is planning a 200-room hotel fronting the Ventura Freeway just east of the Warner Center. Preliminary plans were presented to the Woodland Hills-Warner Center Neighborhood Council Board on December 15. The site is currently developed with a vacant restaurant building. The proposed hotel would include a 3,200 square-foot, ground floor restaurant and a 8,200 square-foot banquet room. Read more...

Nov 15, 16 -- Agents for Choice Hotels have submitted preliminary plans for development of a 118-room Cambria Hotel two blocks east of the Sarasota bay front. The plans were submitted in late October and remain in the technical review phase. The proposed site is made up of two parcels with a total of around 29,000 square feet. Existing structures include three small residential buildings. The drawings for the hotel show a five-story building with 59 parking spaces on the first level. Read more...

Nov 2, 16 -- The City of Rancho Cucamonga is reviewing plans for a 108-room Hampton Inn proposed for a 1.4-acre site currently developed with a Carrows Restaurant. A public hearing for the project will take place in the latter part of November. Applicant Shahin Shaath is the owner of the restaurant as well as several ARCO am/pm locations. Habita LA Arts District Hotel

Oct 5, 16 -- Mexico City-based Grupo Habita is planning to convert a turn-of-the-century, Los Angeles Arts District warehouse to a 66-unit hotel. Plans for the 44,600 square-foot building include 5,400 square feet of ground floor restaurant and retail space. A planning application filed with the City of Los Angeles at the end of September describes the project as a condominium-hotel.

Grupo Habita currently operates a dozen hotels throughout Mexico. Its two existing U.S. locations are the 56-room Hotel Americano Chelsea in New York and The Robey Chicago, a 69-room hotel now being created in a historic Wicker Park office building. Read more...


Hilton Garden Inn Bakers Crossing

Sep 29, 16 -- Forza Group of Pennsylvania is planning a 99-room Hilton Garden Inn in the first phase of the company's Bakers Crossing mixed-use development, located on eight acres along Nashville Pike south of Galatin. In late September, the Gallatin Planning Commission recommended approval of the Bakers Crossing Phase 1 Final Master Development Plan. The hotel will include an internal, first floor restaurant on the south side of the building. A single-story kitchen facility is located on the south side of the hotel, and the kitchen is a single-story conference center building with 9,850 square feet of meeting space.

The Bakers Crossing site plan indicates plans for a second hotel in a future phase. Forza has advised city officials that it intends to start construction for the first hotel in 2017 and the second in 2019. Read more...


Haverhill Hotel

Sep 26, 16 -- Giri Hotels of Qunicy, Mass., is planning to redevelop the site of its Best Western Merrimack Valley hotel, located adjacent to I-495 about 30 miles north of Boston. An application for the project was recently submitted to the City of Haverhill.

The existing hotel comprises three, two- and three-story guest room wings with a total of 126 guest rooms. The proposed project would demolish the eastern and southern wings and expand the remaining, two-story building to create a single, five-story hotel. The remainder of the 2.4-acre site would be developed with a new building containing 6,600 square feet of retail and 3,000 square feet of restaurant space. Read more...
