Thompson Hotels Co-founders Jason Pomeranc and Stephen Brandman have launched Sixty Hotels, a new brand under which they will initially operate four hotels that were part of the original Thompson Hotels portfolio.
The brand will be part of a new hospitality company, Sixty Collective, that will include as partners Pomeranc's brothers Michael and Larry. The group said the Sixty Hotel brand will take its cues from 60 Thompson, Pomeranc's first hotel located in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood.
Effective January 2014, 60 Thompson, Thompson Lower East Side, 6 Columbus and Thompson Beverly Hills will be flagged as Sixty Hotels.
The Thompson Hotels portfolio numbered 12 properties in 2011, when Pomeranc and Brandman merged Thompson with with Joie de Vivre Hotels and John Pritzker's Geolo Capital to form Commune Hotels & Resorts. In August 2013, the Pomeranc group sold its remaining interest in the Thompson brand to Pritzker.
